Alex grew up in a family of Italian and Spanish heritage in the South of France, and spent part of her childhood in Northern Italy. Thanks to her outdoor-loving parents, her holidays were spent in the Alps and the Pyrenees, swimming and hiking in summer, skiing in winter. As a result, she developed a love for the mountains at a very young age, something she has continued to nurture throughout her adult life with hiking trips to Scotland and Scandinavia, and most recently Iceland and the Canary Islands. At 18, she moved to London to study archaeology, and worked on excavations in Wales, Spain, and France. After graduating, she spent a year working in Hamburg and finally moved to Ireland in 2012, after first falling in love with the country during a visit as a teenager. Following a few years teaching Celtic Studies in Dublin, she decided to combine her love for the outdoors and her passion for languages by applying for a position at Hillwalk Tours.
As a Sales and Customer Support Coordinator, Alex is the first point of contact for many customers and answers emails in English and French. She also organises walking tours for them, booking B&Bs, arranging luggage transfers, and generally speaking, making sure each hiker has an unforgettable experience. What she loves most about her job is being able to share her love for the various tour locations with her customers, and help them choose their walking holiday destination.
Outside of work, Alex loves mountaineering and really wants to climb Ben Nevis and Mont Blanc one day. She is also a big fan of trail running, triathlon, and multisport races. However, when the weather outside is just too awful, she enjoys nothing more than knitting or reading a good book in the company of her two cats.
