Luisa grew up in a small town called Waltrop in the industrial Ruhr area of Germany. When her brother returned from a school exchange program in Alaska, Luisa also got the travel bug. As she wanted to improve her English (and had watched a lot of Riverdance!), she chose Ireland and spent six months as an exchange student in the “sunny Southeast”, in County Tipperary. Luisa was fascinated by the friendliness of the people and she loved the varied and beautiful landscape of Ireland. In August 2011, Luisa got a job in Kilkenny and just a year later, she enrolled in Waterford IT studying Tourism Marketing. After completing her studies, Luisa was eager to get a job in the tourism industry.
When Luisa was offered a position with Hillwalk Tours she was delighted to be able to pursue her career in the field she had dedicated the last three years studying to. Luisa started in a sales and customer support role and then quickly progressed to working as a Product Coordinator in the Product Team. Her role evolves around product improvement, dealing with customer and supplier feedback, setting up new tours and the occasional walking of trails.
In her spare time Luisa enjoys looking after her horse Polly, doing yoga and running in the outdoors. Luisa also has a keen interest in artisan food and drink, cooking and trying new restaurants. Thankfully Galway is a great spot for engaging in all these activities!
