Originally from the UK, Matt has spent much of his life exploring the outdoors, a passion that led him to study Geography at university. After living in Australia and New Zealand he developed a deep appreciation for wild, natural landscapes and the joy of discovering them on foot. This was aided by hiking many of the Great Walks across New Zealand’s South Island. When it came time to settle down, Galway’s mix of stunning scenery, vibrant culture and friendly energy made it an easy choice. Joining Hillwalk Tours felt like the perfect next step, being a way to combine his love of hiking while helping others experience the magic of the outdoors.
At Hillwalk Tours, Matt works as part of the Customer Experience team, helping walkers plan unique and unforgettable hiking holidays. Whether it’s matching someone with the right trail, offering local insights or ensuring every detail is covered before they set off, Matt enjoys making each journey as seamless and enjoyable as possible. Being part of a team that encourages people to connect with nature and explore new places is something he finds truly rewarding.
Outside of work, Matt will often be found chasing a football, playing golf (badly), hiking up hills, running down them or clocking miles on his bike. He’s happiest when he’s outdoors and on the go. Always on the lookout for a new trail to explore or a spontaneous road trip along the Wild Atlantic Way, he firmly believes that every wrong turn just adds to the adventure.
