Fantastic company to book your walks! I found all the places I stayed to be very nice which hasn't been my experience with other companies. The route notes are very well done, adding additional information on sightseeing and historical sites. Prompt responses is always important and they do this very well. One trip down with Hillwalk and 3 more booked!
Excelente empresa. Fui muito bem atendido e todas as dúvidas sanadas. Fiz a caminhada Kerry Way Moderado (12 dias).
Just what you need if you want to do leisurely long-distance hiking without being bothered with dirty details like accommodation, luggage transfers, and the like. We used them several times, and they always did a marvelous job.
Just finished my second holiday with Hillwalk. Once again, the experience was unforgettable. From the ease of planning the trip, to the cost, to the excellent lodging and transportation, and to the ease of working with this group, it was a pleasure to plan and execute this holiday. Can’t wait to plan my third.
Hillwalk tours went out of their way to help us on this supported but self-guided hiking adventure on the West Highland Way in Scotland.
The signup procedure was clear and punctual. The same contact person worked with us from start to finish as we changed participants 4 times!!!!!
The accomodations were super.
The luggage transfer seamless.
The maps were more than we needed.
The help during the trip was amazing as we had to adjust with major storm and power outages.
Hillwalk Tours could have done no better. They topped the chart.
Whiskey, walking, and beautiful vistas! What more could one want? My husband and I enjoyed the five day gentle walking tour of the Speyside Way. We added a couple of “rest” days, so we could further explore the countryside.
Hillwalk Tours made our trip fun- and easy! Hillwalk supplied us with the HIKR app and a downloadable or printable guide. The guide contains suggested distilleries, local attractions and eateries.
Each planned hike was unique and completely uncrowded. We only passed a handful of people each day- but dozens of sheep. I don’t think we would have chosen such a variety of terrains independently. We walked 8-14 miles each day, a doable amount when you start early enough! We were glad we packed our poles.
The accommodations were comfortable, the innkeepers friendly and helpful. In Ballindaloch, we were treated to delicious three-course meals cooked by guest chefs. In Craigellachie, our hostess supplied us with a decanter of whisky for a wee dram after our long hikes.
We completed the entire trip on foot, using only public transport and one taxi ride. Information from Hillwalk helped make that doable too. Our only regret was that all too soon, our trip came to an end.
We look forward to our next adventure with Hillwalk!
Hillwalk Tours offered exceptional, personal service from my first email to the completion of my walk along the West Highland Way.
I look forward to booking my next trip!

This was our 5th time with Hillwalk Tours - this time on the Great Glen Way - and all of them have been great. The staff is really friendly and easy to communicate with. The accommodations vary but generally are very good, and the maps and wayfinding for the trails we have completed are easy to navigate.
From the first emails coinfirming our trip I felt I was getting personalized service, and the Bed and Breakfasts we were booked in were all great. October turned out to be a great time to hike Hadrians wall. Not too crowded and perfect temperatures for walking . We walked a "moderate " hike and I have to admit it was a bit more challenging that I had thought, but not un doable. The entire hike was filled with great panoramas and i loved the wind blowing at us from the west. We hope to book again in the lake country. A very civilized holiday. We only spent one week in England and I wish we had given ourself an extra day or two to get over jet lag before starting the hike. Great trip for couples. Good to have someone spur you on and keep you going. I felt the cost of the trip was fair and we absolutely got what we paid for and more out of this trip.
We enjoyed a well-planned multi-day hike along the Beara Way (Castletownbere to Kenmare). The B&Bs were all very good, with helpful hosts and hearty meals to help you slog through the bogs (who knew hillsides, ridge tops and mountain tops could have bogs?!?!). The hike itself is not for beginners - and take an extra pair of boots (you’ll need them if it has rained!).
I just completed the 10-day hike along Hadrian’s Wall Path with the company, and it was a wonderful experience! Everything was perfectly organized, from the route to the charming B&Bs they booked for me. Their support made the journey smooth and enjoyable. A big thank you for making this adventure so special—I can highly recommend them!
Seemless experience hiking the Beara Way with Hillwalk tours. Wonderful accomodations with gracious hosts. Directions and trip notes were very clear and helpful. Staff suggested this hike as an alternative to the Dingle Way and we thoroughly enjoyed our trip (despite all of the rain).

Birthday present for my 70th. birthday: The Rob Roy Way.
Not sure whether HWT organised this, but believe we met the Ghost of Rob Roy (see picture).
Once again, only positive experiences on this "Scottish" tour.
The scenery, the people, the food, the whisky. The 5-day Speyside Way and Cairngorms Walk we booked with Hillwalk Tours was outstanding from start to finish. We choose a “gentle” walk in the Speyside region, where more than 60% of Scotland’s whisky is produced. We dreamed of long walks through heather and gorse with some well-timed stops for a wee dram or two.
We found all that and more. Hillwalk helped us tailor our tour to our vision. We sprinkled in a few rest days(bringing the total days on the trip to 7) so we could fully explore the distilleries and other local attractions. The accompanying guide helped us choose our additional stops and configure transportation. This allowed us to adventure from start to finish using only public transport and one taxi ride. We began with a few days in Inverness and after finishing the hike, took a pre-booked taxi to the train, traveling on to Edinburgh.
Each planned hike covered varied terrain so we felt like we gained a solid appreciation for interplay of the geography, history, and economy. We used the HiiKER app included with our tour package for navigation each day. Although it was peak season, our hikes were uncrowded. Each day we only passed a handful of other hikers, some cyclists or none at all. We walked 8-14 miles on each hike and 4-7 miles on our “rest” days. We walked or hiked 4-6 miles 3x/week for a few months to prepare. We did find this helpful. This particular walk is not technical and is doable by people who are reasonably fit. We brought our poles which kept us from rolling our ankles more than a few times. We did not encounter any dreaded midges.
Accommodations were clean and the hosts very kind. We loved the extras such as the ever-present Walker shortbread, hot tea, and wee dram provided by our Bridge View B&B hostess. In Ballindalloch, guest chefs cooked us outstanding meals each evening. There was a separate menu each day for those who don’t eat meat.
The transport provided for our bags was seamless. The other hikers we met were warm and welcoming. Everyone we met agreed that we hope to plan future hikes with the help of Hillwalk Tours.
With a group of 10 Belgian hikers, we did the 8-day Pembrokeshire Coastal Path last June. It was fantastic, thanks to the good weather and the excellent organisation by Hillwalktours, which I can highly recommend 👍👍👏
Hillwalk Tours handled everything we needed - lodgings, luggage transfers, directions and more. We got ourselves to the starting point; everything else was taken care of. Friendly and helpful staff answered all of our questions promptly and courteously. Will definitely book with them again..
With Hillwalk Tours you can book a tailor-made trip. You choose the time, the number of days and the difficulty of the walking route. The communication with the Hillwalk Tours team is fantastic! They are involved, helpful and very friendly. The B&Bs are all good. The information package is very extensive and complete. After two trips with Hillwalk Tours I can highly recommend this organization.
Our first-ever inn-to-inn hike, and we’re completely smitten with the Cotswold Way.
Winding through rolling hills, wildflower meadows, breezy woodlands, ancient stone walls and storybook villages, this path is the definition of English countryside charm. Every step is steeped in history and honey-hued stone, with adorable sheep dotting the fields and views that make you pause & smile at every mile.
The trail is part hike, part treasure hunt—with twists, turns, hidden markers, and quirky stone stiles that feel like puzzles to solve and gates that blend right into hedgerows. Each one felt like a level completed in a beautifully handcrafted game.
Yes, there were steep inclines and tricky descents, but the reward? Scones sliced in half, layered with jam and clotted cream—thick, rich, and indulgent. Crispy fish & chips for dinner hit the spot. And Cider. Absolutely perfect after an 11 mile day.
The weather was more beautiful than we could have imagined. We met some fine folks along the way, and ended each day at charming inns with great food and drink—including the best truffle goat cheese pizza we’ve ever had (though the 11 miles may have helped!).
77 miles in 7 days. ✅ What a trip!
Now we’re hooked. And dreaming of the next one already.
We meant to train... but didn’t. 😅 Despite a few blisters, some knee pain, sore hamstrings, and the occasional shin splint, it was absolutely worth it.
We used Hillwalk Tours -- they made the experience seamless—they transported our luggage, booked our inns and breakfasts, and provided excellent maps, directions, suggested stops, and a helpful hiking app. All we had to do was carry a daypack and enjoy the journey. What a way to live for a week!
Great experience. They took care of everything from booking the B&Bs, the detailed trail notes, transferring my luggage each day, and any shuttles between the hikes, all I had to do was show up at the first location. The hike itself was beautiful. Definitely want to do this again.
This is our third Hillwalk hike, we love this company so much! This time we did Portugal's Fisherman's Trail. The accommodations were absolutely fantastic! The directions were perfect. Looking forward to booking hike #4!
