Day 2 Lugo - San Román de Retorta
11.5 Miles / 18.5 Km 5-7 Hrs 1150 ft / 350 MetresStarting at Lugo’s Plaza Maior and its stunning Cathedral, you pass through the historic Porta de Santiago and cross the iconic Ponte Vella, a Roman-era bridge. The route then winds uphill through rural landscapes, past sights like Iglesia de San Xoán do Alto, known for its unique portico, and an optional detour to a Roman temple at Santa Eulalia de Bóveda. The route primarily follows peaceful countryside roads and ends in San Román de Retorta, a charming village with a rich Romanesque heritage. From there, transfer and overnight in Lugo. -
Day 3 San Román de Retorta - Vilamor de Abaixo
13.5 Miles / 22 Km 6-8 Hrs 1670 ft / 510 MetresA morning transfer from Lugo is followed by a day of peaceful country roads, tree-lined paths, and small rural villages. You’ll pass landmarks like the Roman bridge of Ponte Ferreira and traditional Galician ‘cruceiros’, offering glimpses into the region’s cultural and spiritual heritage. The terrain is mostly gentle, with a mix of country roads and paths, making for a pleasant and relatively easy walk. Overnight in Melide, after a short transfer.

Day 4 Vilamor de Abaixo - Arzua
12.5 Miles / 20.5 Km 5-7 Hrs 1050 ft / 320 MetresA short transfer and another day of pleasant and gentle walking across three shallow river valleys, mostly on shaded woodland paths and tracks, where cafés and riverside picnic areas are perfect for breaks. At Melide the route joins the popular Camino Frances and in Ribadiso, you pass one of the oldest medieval pilgrim hostels still operating along the entire Camino. Your day finishes near the 14th century chapel of La Magdalena in the town of Arzua, which is famous for its local cheese.

Day 5 Arzua - A Rua
11.2 Miles / 18 Km 5-7 Hrs 1250 ft / 380 MetresAs other routes join the Camino Primitivo you will find more and more pilgrims sharing the walk towards Santiago with you. The walk leads you through quaint hamlets and, as the vegetation becomes more Mediterranean, the oak and chestnut woodlands of eastern Galicia slowly give way to eucalyptus and pine forests and even the occasional palm tree. Stay and relax in the tranquil settlement of A Rua before continuing to Santiago de Compostela tomorrow.

Day 6 A Rua - Santiago de Compostela
13 Miles / 21 Km 5-7 Hrs 1510 ft / 460 MetresThe last day of the Camino brings you once more through little villages, woodlands and open country along quiet paths and tracks. Not far from Santiago you pass through the village of Lavacolla, where pilgrims traditionally washed themselves after weeks or months of travelling. The end of the walk leads you through medieval streets in the old town of Santiago de Compostela and past grand squares, fountains, palaces and churches before you arrive at the Praza do Obradoiro and the magnificent Cathedral of Santiago.

There are regular flights from Santiago Airport as well as bus and train services from Santiago to other Spanish cities and airports. Full details provided upon booking.
