  • Day 1 Arrival in Glenmalure

From your point of arrival, use the public transport information we provide to make the journey to Glenmalure.

  • Day 2 Glenmalure - Glendalough (via the Spinc and Glenealo Valley)

    9.9 Miles / 16 Km 5-7 Hrs 560 Metres

The day begins with a gradual climb up the northern slopes of Glenmalure, offering excellent views of Lugnaquilla, the tallest mountain in Wicklow. After passing through Lugduff Gap, the path descends gradually, revealing beautiful views of the picturesque Glendalough Valley. As it curves at the head of the valley, the route crosses the Glenealo River, leading to a peaceful riverside walk with numerous idyllic picnic spots along the way. After descending down into valley, the path takes you along the shorelines of the lakes to the Monastic ‘City’ of Glendalough.

  • Day 3 Glendalough - Roundwood

    9.3 Miles / 15 Km 5-6 Hrs 700 Metres

Leaving the ancient Monastic City behind, you ascend through dense forestry before crossing the Glenmacnass River. From here, you make your way up Paddock Hill and then down into Oldbridge. If the weather is clear, you can follow an optional detour over Scarr Mountain (641m). Viewpoints on both sides of the trail showcase panoramic views and allow appreciation for how far you have come. Then, follow country roads all the way into Roundwood, from where you will be transferred to your B&B.

  • Day 4 Roundwood - Enniskerry

    10.6 Miles / 17 Km 5-7 Hrs 550 Metres

This hike is widely considered to be the highlight of the Wicklow Way trail. After a transfer and short climb, you often get wonderful views over the nearby Vartry Reservoir. You then pass above iconic Lough Tay, the famous Guinness Lake and setting for many movies and TV series. Climb up to White Hill and around the bulk of Djouce mountain before descending past Powerscourt Waterfall into Crone Woods. A short transfer will bring you to your B&B.

  • Day 5 Departure from Enniskerry

There is a regular bus service from Enniskerry to Dublin City. Your hosts can usually provide the most accurate local details, but if you need additional guidance, our team is happy to help.
