In 2025 some repairs to the cliff walk at the Cliffs of Moher became necessary. Despite the Safety Notice that parts of the Cliffs of Moher Coastal Walk were closed, our tours are running as usual and we have developed a unique experience that gets you closer to the Cliffs than ever before and you can still complete your trail. What’s happening on the Cliffs of Moher Trails?
There are currently two separate closures in the area but neither affects your safe walking experience with us. The Visitor Centre remains fully open while a small 500m section of the Doolin Cliff Walk is temporarily closed. We’ve adjusted the route and pickup location accordingly, meaning the hike runs at 7km rather than 8km. Everything that makes this experience special remains fully intact and in truth, what we’ve put together in response to the repairs makes for an even better day out. Here’s what we mean.
Introducing the Cliffs of Moher Discovery Day
While the trails are being repaired, we’ve developed our Cliffs of Moher Discovery Day a handcrafted package that turns the situation into something truly special. Your day begins at the Visitor Centre, where you’ll walk a spectacular 1.5km stretch of the clifftop path, taking in breathtaking views of cliffs that rise vertically more than 200 metres from the sea. From there you’ll hike 5km along the coast with fabulous sea views carrying you all the way into Doolin, one of Ireland’s most celebrated villages for traditional music and authentic Irish charm. A Note on the Current Trail Closures
In February 2025, it was reported that a section of the clifftop trail at the Cliffs of Moher is currently closed for essential path improvements. The Cliffs of Moher, Doolin & Clare Local Development Company is allowing other parts of the trails to remain open whilst these sections are being renovated. Significant works are currently under way on parts of the trail, with completion not anticipated until the end of 2027.
The Cliffs of Moher Hiking Tour (also known as the Doolin Cliff Walk) is still running as usual. With this in mind, we have developed our Cliffs of Moher Discovery Day. A small section of the Cliff Walk is temporarily closed, but we have made changes to our itineraries that make your experience even more exciting. Cliffs of Moher Visitor Centre
Before you even set foot on the clifftop path, immerse yourself in the story of these iconic cliffs through the Visitor Centre’s world class interactive exhibition, where millions of years of geology, wildlife and Atlantic history come to life. Doolin Cliff walks
You will walk the most spectacular 1.5 km section of the clifftop path and take in breathtaking views of cliffs that rise vertically more than 200 metres from the sea. After a short transfer, you will hike the final 5 km of the trail with fabulous sea views all the way into Doolin.
O’Brien’s Tower
This 19th-century tower has some of the most breathtaking panoramic views on the entire Wild Atlantic Way. Step inside and climb to the top for an unrivalled vantage point, where on a clear day you can see the Aran Islands rising from Galway Bay.
Visit the legendary town of Doolin
This quiet fishing village has been known since the 1970s as the traditional music capital of Ireland. Enjoy the live music sessions in the world famous pubs of Doolin. Visit the nearby Doolin Cave and see the ‘Great Stalactite’ or take a boat cruise to the Cliffs of Moher from the sea side.
Doolin Caves
If you’re interested in extradinary wonders of the world, Doolin Cave is home to Europe’s largest Stalactite, formed magnificently by a single continuous drop of water! Located 200 feet down, in the heart of the earth lives a world created from water, time and the hand of nature. The famous Stalactite reaches 7.3 meters in length and weighs around 10 tonnes!
